IRISH MOTHS and BUTTERFLIES

This isn't a comprehensive guide to Irish moths but illustrates species recorded in and near my garden near Ballingeary, Co. Cork, SW Ireland, with my grandchildren in Foynes, Co. Limerick and occasionally in other locations in Ireland.
I never realised how fascinating, varied and colourful moths were until I started looking ...

Clicking on the thumbnail images opens a species page with details, photographs and maps from the MothsIreland website.
Species pages give both the ABH and B&F numbers.
A section by host plant has been added for micro moth larvae and leaf mines included in the website.

The website has been updated to ABH numbers (2013 checklist) from the B&F numbers previously used.
Original sections in the order of B&F numbers can still be seen here (compatible with older reference books)
If mistakes are found please contact me so I can correct them.
