Widespread, locally common
Wingspan: 30-38mm. Usually brownish with darker markings but there is a greyish form, f. perfumaria.

Flight time: June-August
Habitat: Woods, parks, scrub, hedges and gardens

Larval food plants include Hawthorn and Ivy.
