Widespread, locally common
Wingspan: 38-44mm.
Variable, the twin spots faint or absent in some forms.

Flight time: Late February - early May
Habitat: Deciduous woodland, often feeds on sallow flowers

Larvae feed on the leaves of deciduous trees and woody plants including Oaks, sallows, Ash, Field Maple and Honeysuckle.
